Life in Honduras

December 1, 2014

Hey Family!

How are all of you? Thanks for your emails. Things are going good here. Last Wednesday it poured like crazy and there was a huge flood. The two bridges to get to the area of the Ceiba where we live were closed. It was a red alert. (not sure what that means but yea, haha). We taught until 6pm and when we came out of our lesson all the streets were rivers. So from that time on we were wading through water looking for people to help. We helped a lot of people raise their couches and fridges and things up higher on tables. Many houses were flooded. There was one spot were the water was up to my belly button! It was so crazy! There were strong currents also! We helped fill up sand bags also to block the water from coming into peoples houses. That night was a huge adventure. On Thanksgiving morning we went as a zone and helped more people. One missionary was interviewed on the news. It was awesome! The R__ family has been progresing . Especially Sis R__. She reads the Book of Mormon everyday. They came to the Stake Christmas devotional we had last night. This Friday we have a FHE with them in the Stake Presidents house. The A__ family is doing good also. Mayline was baptised on Saturday! :) I confirmed her on Sunday. Sadly Sis A___ still didn't come to Church yesterday. That was frustrating. They did go to the Stake Christmas devotional though! David A__ is doing super good! He is sharing the gospel with his friends and family and is making a big difference for the good. He will be a powerful missionary. Even though he is 18 the Bishop wanted him to go to EFY. He just signed up! He will go with the other young men at the end of December! Marjorie is doing well also. She doesn't feel ready yet to be baptised just like the R__ family but she says she does want to be baptised when she feels more comfortable. Gabriela is healing good from her motorcycle accident and came to Church yesterday. She told us that she thanks the Lord she is alive and knows that one of the reasons she is still here is so that she can be baptised. She is fully commited to baptism. As soon as her injuries permit her to enter the water! :) Please keep these people in your prayers. I love them so much. I can't believe there are transfers next week. I want to go where the Lord wants me to go but I really hope he wants me to stay here. :) I love this area so much. I would be so sad to leave these people.

I will be writing next week in the morning again. I love you all so much. Have another fantastic week! Keep being light unto the World. Try to learn as much as you can about Jesus Christ each day. I know that as we try to be like Him we will be happy. Our Stake Pres yesterday at the devotional said that we have great reason to rejoice, there are many people in the World who have many worldly things... but we know why we are here, and where we are going. We have the true gospel and we know the plan of Salvation! We should be the happisest people in the World! I am going to work on being happier and showing that happiness. It's so true what he said. We have so much reason to REJOICE. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I am so grateful for Him. It is so special to enter today into the magical month of December and feel the Christmas spirit. Your love and prayers mean so much. Rejoice the Lord is King!

Buenas!

Hi Family!

Well that was funny I sent the Thanksgiving email last week. haha We thought that last Thursday was Thanksgiving. :) ha Well we can give thanks any day of the year right?

Thank you all for your emails. I love you so much. My companion

Elder Solano cooked the dinner you see in the picture I sent. He is quite the chef. It was so delicious. Last Monday we were back in Trujillo. Almost a year ago we went there from Sonaguera. It was great to be back! This week has been really good. One of the most special things was we had a lesson with Pres. Selaya (Stake President of La Ceiba) and Bro and Sis R___. It was a very spiritual lesson. They shared with us about their daughter who died when she was 5 yrs old then Pres. Selaya shared that they had a baby who died 2 weeks before birth. He very powerfully shared his testimony that they and him will be able to see their children again. He asked them directly if they wanted to be with their daughter again and then explained to them that in order to do so baptism and temple ordinances are necessary. Many more special things were shared. It was one of the most special lessons in my mission.

David A___ and his family are progressing a lot. David went with other future missionaries to San Pedro to do all his dental work for the mission. He is seriously considering going on a mission! It is so awesome! :)

Many great things have been happening. I wish that I could share them all. Thank you for everything! Have a great Thanksgiving! I love you!

I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know that we are weak but with Him we can be made strong. This gospel changes people. It is the fountain of all happiness.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 17, 2014

Hola! Next week I will have to explain the adventures of today and share more about how our investigators are doing. Please pray for the R__ family that they will continue to open their hearts and accept the law of tithing. We have a lesson with them this Tuesday with our Stake President. Please pray for David's mom Sister A___ that she will recieve an answer to her prayers about if she needs to be baptised again. Please pray that I will have patience and diligence. I love you all so much. Have a fantastic week!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Among the many things I am so grateful for these are the top 5:

1. A loving Heavenly Father
2. Jesus Christ and His Atonement
3. The power and guidance of the Holy Ghost
4. The Restored Gospel
5. My Family

I love you!

Hi Family!

November 10, 2014

Dear Family,

This last week a few days I was feeling sick but gratefully I am feeling great and healthy again. We found a new family, the Menzi M___ family. They had been talking to missionaries before and were going to church but stoped going because the missionaries were transfered. They are golden! They keep asking great questions, especially Hno Menzi. They understand everything we teach so well and believe it all. When we taught about the Book of Mormon on Friday he told us ¨so this is the thing that fills the space in our hearts as latinos?¨(holding up the BOM) He has always wanted to know about the people who were here in the Americas when Christopher Columbus came to the Americas. It's as if his whole life he has been waiting to recieve the Book of Mormon. So awesome! Oh and do you guys remember that one guy named Juan who was disagreeing a lot with us and told us not to come back to the house?? We had a lesson with him yesterday! haha We were looking for his next door neigbor and he was outside. He asked us if we had time to talk with him. We a little shocked gratefully acepted the offer. Although he still is very confused about all the false information he has read we led him in a direction where he can find true information about the church. He slowly is opening his heart! It makes me so happy! To be honest I thought it would be missionaries next year or something that would maybe be able to talk to him. But another miracle and blessing Heavenly Father has given us is his interest right now!

Sadly I need to go now but talk to you all on Monday! I love you so much. Each one of you. Have a fantastic week!

Hola!

November 3, 2014

Hi Family!

We got back from the interviews late so I don't have much time. The interview with Pres. Klein went really great though! He is such a great man. I asked him how he came to know the Church was true and he said when he was 17 yrs old he wanted to know which of all the churches is true just like Joseph Smith so he read the Joseph Smith story and did everything Joseph did. He went to different churches and said that in each one of them he felt good but empty almost cold and then he came back to the Church and felt good and warm. He then prayed with all his heart and asked Heavenly Father. He told me he felt a burning in his bosom and knew that he was born into the true Church. I thought that was a really cool and powerful testimony. I remember when I was 12 yrs old finishing the Book of Mormon and praying to know if the book was true. I remember feeling great peace and happiness. From that point on in my life I have had many experiences of the Holy Ghost confirming to my mind and heart that the Book of Mormon is true, Joseph Smith was a prophet, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I know with my whole heart. If any of you my wonderful siblings (or anyone reading this) have not read the Book of Mormon and followed Moronis challenge to read, meditate, and ask Heavenly Father in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ if the Book of Mormon is true I invite you as a called and set apart representative of Jesus Christ to do it. I know that the Holy Ghost will confirm to your hearts the truthfulness of the BOM if you pray with faith.

Great things are happening here! I love this great work! Thank you for all your love and support. I wish that I could write to each of you but today I did not have nearly enough time. Please know that I read each one of your notes and appreciate them dearly. I am so happy to hear that you are all doing well. I have the best family in the World! Have a great week! I love you!!!

Happy to Spend More Time Here!

October 29, 2014

Buenas tardes familia!

I'm staying here!!! Wahooo! I'm so happy I get to spend more time in this area with my companion Elder Solano. We are getting along so good and this area is catching on fire. What I mean by that is so many good things are happening. These last few weeks I have felt Heavenly Father's blessings being poured out upon us. What makes me even more happy is to hear that you all are doing so good. I love each one of you so much.

So like I said David Aguilar's baptism went great on Saturday! Nicholas Salgado baptised him. Nicholas has been going out with us visiting a ton! He leaves on his mission to Uraguay at the end of November. David was baptised on his moms (Hna Digna) birthday! That was cool. We didnt even know until she told us that day. Davids Dad doesnt live with them but he tried to take David out of town so that he wouldnt be baptised but David told him no. Im so happy for him, he has such strong faith. I hope so badly that he will be able to go on a mission. They Reyes family are relatives of David and also came to the baptism! Other than Bro Reyes not being able to go to Church because of work, they have gone to everything we have invited them to. They are progressing soooooo much. Tonight we have a family night with them at the Bishops house. Im so excited! Bishop Moncada is helping so much with this family. I am so grateful for him and his family. Oh I forgot to tell you that last Saturday morning it started raining super hard and we had planned to go to the Reyes house to help them move some rocks. When I say it started raning super hard I mean harder than I remember it ever raining here... Sister Reyes called us and asked us if we wanted to reschedule it for another day. We had to think for a second but we decided lets go on an adventure! Luckily my companion had a really sweet poncho he let me use and another Elder had left rain boots at our house. So we got all geared up and headed out into the rain. The streets were rivers! Their house is practically the farthest you can go in our area. It was awesome though! When we got there they were surprised we came. We did the service out in the pouring rain with Bro Reyes and Ariel and then Sis Reyes served us awesome bean, cheese, avocato, egg baleadas! I usually dont like avocato but with the eggs and everything they were good. That was an adventure!

On Sunday my companion confirmed David. He told me right now that his brother helped confirm his girlfriend on the same day! The Reyes family came for their 3rd consecutive Sunday in a row! Well Sis Reyes, Keyry and Ariel have now come 3 times. They have a baptism date for the 22nd of November.

We are teaching Antonie Nuñez´(member) friend Marjorie, she is so sharp! She has read everything we have asked her to read. She also wrote notes on everything she read! She told us that she feels the message is true because she has felt the fruits of the spirit during the lessons and as she studies and prays. She also is preparing to be baptised the 22nd of November.

The weather has been so nice lately. Today it heated up a bit but the past days have been incredible weather. In the morning it has even felt a little cold! One morning I was studying with a blanket around my shoulders! haha So weird. It feels so nice.

I love you all so much and appreciate greatly your love and support. I know that Heavenly Father is the Father of our spirits. I know that He loves us and knows how we can truly be happy. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, the First Born of our Heavenly Father. I know that because of Him and the Atonement he made for us we can repent of our sins and find peace in this life and eternal life in the World to come. I know that He understands each one of us perfectly and ALWAYS wants to help us. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is the keystone of our religion. I find great peace and guidance as I read the scriptures. Remember to pray for charity ¨the pure love of Christ¨,the greatest of all things. I hope we can all help and love each other until we make it back Home to our Heavenly Father.

Have an awesome week! I love you all!

A Dream

October 27, 2014

Dear family,

So this transfer was only 4 weeks long thats why I'm writing in the morning today. Later today they will call and tell us if anyone is being transferred this wednesday! I really hope that I am not being transferred.

I have lots of things I want to tell you about. I will do my best to write what I can. Last Tuesday we had an awesome lesson with the Reyes family. The Bishop came with his wife. We opened up to any questions they had and we ended up talking about a ton of different things. The lesson was like 2 hours. They want to know so bad everything they can about the Church. Sister Reyes shared something very, very interesting. She said that she had a dream with Mom and I. I looked like I do now but I was a toddler. Mom had me in between her legs and she was reading a book to me. She couldn't recognize what the book was. Very interesting. Mom please tell me if you understand this dream. :)

The Baptism of David went really good on Saturday!

I'm going to write more on Wednesday because the other Elders are waiting to write.

I love you all so much!
