It is getting very, very HOT here

Hola mí familia!

With Douglis who is leaving for his mission to Bolivia
Thank you all so much for your emails. I love reading each and every one of them. You are all so kind. It is getting very, very HOT here.  It hasn't rained for a while and this is the hottest month of the year here in Honduras. I am so grateful that our area is at least up on the mountain and not in the city.

I am sitting here trying to think of what I can share with you. To be honest it's very hard to put into words this experience. Everyday is hard, joyful, tiring, fulfilling, frustrating, beautiful, sad, and happy. When it comes down to the line being a missionary is a great privilege and blessing. The mission is the greatest training in the World. Little by little I am becoming a better representative of Jesus Christ. My testimony is being strengthened immensely, and my love for all people is growing.

Apparently cambios are this Wednesday! Elder Flores and I until this morning thought that they were next week... We are both hoping that neither one of us is changed. I am almost positive that I will spend more time here in the mountain of progresso. :) I hope that I do stay. Because we didn't know, we planned for lessons and everything Wednesday so we are only going to be able to email today.

Up in the mountain teaching people with Eduardo, the little brother of Douglis

Last Tuesday all the missionaries in our Zone made a personal goal about our missionary service. I made the goal to have 50 new investigators each week. Last night we finished the week with 53 new investigators! :) The definition of a new investigator is someone that we teach 1+ principles to and plan a specific time to visit with them again. We talked with everyone!! (almost ;)) It was so awesome to see that with a specific goal and hard work each day along with specific goals each day we were able to accomplish this goal. We also had 17 investigators come to Sacrament Meeting yesterday! It should be said that a few are kids in our area who we only talk to and don´t visit but are awesome/g´s and come to Church with their friends who are members. Nevertheless, another great blessing. The Ward also had its best attendance ever, 167.

We have some investigators who are very close to baptism! We are working with and teaching two sets of brothers who live in the same house named José and Oscar; Carlos and Kevin. José is 15 yrs old, Oscar 14, Carlos 13, and Kevin 10. They all have accepted to be baptized. :) Kevin is hilarious and ever since the baptism of Eskarlet has wanted to be baptized. We are still trying hard to finalize and obtain all the papers for the marriage of Renae and Marixa. They have been being taught by missionaries and going to Church since August and are so ready for baptism but need to get married! We are teaching three sisters who are in their 20´s and their Mom. The Mom is named Dorka, and the sisters: Claudia, Angela, and Isis. We started with just Claudia, then taught Claudia with her Mom after, then one day we were walking to teach Claudia and Dorka and by Heavenly Father's mercy helped a woman with a bucket she was carrying up the street to the same house we were going to! The lady we helped is Claudia's sister, Angela! We met Isis because a few weeks ago Claudia came to Church and brought Isis with her. I don´t remember if I already shared all this with you... I don´t think so. Isis has now come to Church three times and has accepted to be baptized! Angela is progressing a ton and has come to church the last two Sundays but does not want to accept a baptismal date yet. Last Saturday we had a powerful lesson with them but very sadly Claudia told us that she would continue to listen to us but was still going to go to her church and not the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. The good/ bad news is that she still hasn't put in the effort to read the BOM. I don´t know if we haven't emphasized the importance of gaining a testimony of the BOM with her or what but Saturday after she told us this we sure did. We bore our testimonies with all the power and energy of our souls that night. I know that if Claudia reads the Book of Mormon, meditates its words, and prays with faith and true intention she will feel the spirit and know the Church is true. We also have an investigator named Anna who is married to a member named Alexis. They also need to get married! But like Renae and Marixa she is very prepared and willing and working towards getting married. These are some of our investigators that are progressing, changing their lives, and coming unto Christ. Please pray that they along with all the other investigators will have more and more faith in Jesus Christ, keep their commitments, and very soon make the covenant of baptism with our Heavenly Father.

Thank you all for your love and support. You are the best family ever! Even though its extremely hard being separated physically, my love is growing so much for each one of you and our family as a whole. I always took for granted all that we are blessed with in our family both spiritually and temporally. Things are a lot different here. Count your blessings. I love you all so much and hope you have a great week filled with service and joy.

Love Elder Conover

Notes about the pictures:
