Life in Honduras

December 1, 2014

Hey Family!

How are all of you? Thanks for your emails. Things are going good here. Last Wednesday it poured like crazy and there was a huge flood. The two bridges to get to the area of the Ceiba where we live were closed. It was a red alert. (not sure what that means but yea, haha). We taught until 6pm and when we came out of our lesson all the streets were rivers. So from that time on we were wading through water looking for people to help. We helped a lot of people raise their couches and fridges and things up higher on tables. Many houses were flooded. There was one spot were the water was up to my belly button! It was so crazy! There were strong currents also! We helped fill up sand bags also to block the water from coming into peoples houses. That night was a huge adventure. On Thanksgiving morning we went as a zone and helped more people. One missionary was interviewed on the news. It was awesome! The R__ family has been progresing . Especially Sis R__. She reads the Book of Mormon everyday. They came to the Stake Christmas devotional we had last night. This Friday we have a FHE with them in the Stake Presidents house. The A__ family is doing good also. Mayline was baptised on Saturday! :) I confirmed her on Sunday. Sadly Sis A___ still didn't come to Church yesterday. That was frustrating. They did go to the Stake Christmas devotional though! David A__ is doing super good! He is sharing the gospel with his friends and family and is making a big difference for the good. He will be a powerful missionary. Even though he is 18 the Bishop wanted him to go to EFY. He just signed up! He will go with the other young men at the end of December! Marjorie is doing well also. She doesn't feel ready yet to be baptised just like the R__ family but she says she does want to be baptised when she feels more comfortable. Gabriela is healing good from her motorcycle accident and came to Church yesterday. She told us that she thanks the Lord she is alive and knows that one of the reasons she is still here is so that she can be baptised. She is fully commited to baptism. As soon as her injuries permit her to enter the water! :) Please keep these people in your prayers. I love them so much. I can't believe there are transfers next week. I want to go where the Lord wants me to go but I really hope he wants me to stay here. :) I love this area so much. I would be so sad to leave these people.

I will be writing next week in the morning again. I love you all so much. Have another fantastic week! Keep being light unto the World. Try to learn as much as you can about Jesus Christ each day. I know that as we try to be like Him we will be happy. Our Stake Pres yesterday at the devotional said that we have great reason to rejoice, there are many people in the World who have many worldly things... but we know why we are here, and where we are going. We have the true gospel and we know the plan of Salvation! We should be the happisest people in the World! I am going to work on being happier and showing that happiness. It's so true what he said. We have so much reason to REJOICE. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I am so grateful for Him. It is so special to enter today into the magical month of December and feel the Christmas spirit. Your love and prayers mean so much. Rejoice the Lord is King!

Love Elder Conover
